Become an RSVP Line Advocate!

 

RSVP Line Advocate Training – STUDENTS, FACULTY, & STAFF

Relationship & Sexual Violence Phone (RSVP) Line Training Dates:

Friday February 17, 12-6 pm

Saturday February 18, 9-5pm

Friday February  24, 12-6pm

Saturday February 25, 9-5pm


Advocates are given crisis intervention training and can refer survivors to appropriate resources of support on campus and in the community.

Advocates offer callers confidential and anonymous support while providing crisis counseling, and  connecting them to the Women’s Center staff advocates and emergency medical services.  Topics in this 25 hour training include: medical advocacy, suicide assessment, active listening, LGBTQ community considerations, sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking.

All interested in becoming an Advocate are required to complete an application, interview with members of the Women’s Center staff, and attend all four days of training.  Applications are due Tuesday, January 31.

We are also willing to work with people who have minor schedule conflicts.

Staff can count this training as volunteer service hours

Students who would be missing class can receive a letter of excuse from Women’s Center staff. This training can also count as internship hours for WGS and Social Work.
